My name is Tyson-Irby-Brownson and I am a senior attending Boulder City High School. I began wrestling in 5th grade because my moms encouraged me to try every sport. Due to my height, it is most unexpected that wrestling, not basketball, has become my favorite sport. I love the physical aspect and the brotherhood I get from it, especially as an only child. |

Wrestling hasn’t always been easy. I have been the biggest but the youngest. I have been slammed and taken down by older and stronger kids so many times I can’t remember. Reflecting on it today, it was the biggest asset to my growth. |

As a freshman, I wrestled on JV for most of the season. However, I got a chance to compete at Regionals where I placed 4th and earned a spot to compete at State where I finished 5th. Then COVID put a halt on wrestling at the High School. However, I joined the ATC (Aniciete Training) club and really had a chance to focus on improvement. Their coaching and support, along with my HS coach Jim Cox [Boulder City HS], led me to a Regional and Nevada State Title as a junior at 195 lbs. |

I decided to not play football as a senior so I could focus on building my strength and give myself the best chance of reaching my goals on the mat. I am grateful for all my coaches: Coach Jim Cox, Coach Nap Aniciete, Coach Alex Aniciete, Coach Val Rauser, Coach Brody, and Coach Carolyn Weslyn. They have each helped my growth in such different ways and I am thankful for each of them. I am also very grateful for my family following my journey. My moms, cousin and all my family in Georgia have traveled to support me |
