Nevada’s ONLY College Wrestling Team, AND it is
“NOT”a Club |
| Contray to popular responses UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) is NOT a Club Team. UNLV is a National Collegiate Wrestling Association Team aka NCWA which is a different league than NCAA, but it is legitimate and worthy in itself. Head Coach James Downing would like to change the reputation of the team from, “oh it’s just a Club team” because it is not, and he feels that it hinders the team and recruitment. Here is a link to the NCWA so you can read more about it. NCWA |
| Coach Downing believes that UNLV is a great option for wrestlers who for one reason or another would like a different route. Students must still be accepted into UNLV and be degree-seeking students. There is no age limit as long as the student is within the four years of eligibility required to wrestle for the NCWA. |
