I’m honored and thrilled to be recognized as NVSportsLocal Womens’ Athlete of the Month for Nevada. My wrestling journey began just over two years ago, and I am amazed at how quickly I have progressed and reached new levels in this sport. Recently, I achieved my first National Ranking, coming in at #29. I am beyond enthusiastic about this accomplishment, and I am determined to continue climbing the rankings. This recognition motivates me to work even harder, and I will give my best effort to maintain and improve my standing.

My wrestling journey began just over two years ago during my 7th-grade middle school season. I was encouraged by others to try out the sport and so I did. I bought my first pair of wrestling shoes and began my first wrestling season. Considering the prices for wrestling shoes were very high, I had convinced my dad to agree to purchase them on one condition; that I would continue to wrestle until my shoes had worn out. The next step I took after my first season was joining a club. I joined Khutulun Girls Wrestling club and during the next few months I had grown to love the sport. I had already competed at many SAWA tournaments as well as local tournaments such as the Reno Rumble and Sierra Nevada Classic and by the next year, my shoes were still going strong.

The following summer before my Freshman year, 1 week before Western States, my shoes finally broke, but by that time, I had forgotten about the agreement I made with my dad because I had grown to love the sport so much that I even joined a second club–Silver State Wrestling Academy. Once my shoes had worn out, I immediately bought a new pair so I could continue on with my newfound passion. Going into my Freshman season I was able to find amazing wrestling partners to train with, and throughout the season I found myself committed more than ever to become better and work harder. I am currently an incoming Sophomore at Reed High school. This summer I participated in two of the highest National Tournaments for women in high school–World Team Trials in Spokane, Washington and Fargo, North Dakota. Although the outcome was not what I desired, I am grateful to have been given this opportunity, knowing that when I started two years ago, I would’ve never imagined to be involved with these tournaments.

The unwavering support and dedication of my coaches and wrestling partners has been my go-to motivation; without them I wouldn’t be where I am now. They continuously push my limits during practices; recognizing my struggles and ensuring that I keep going and training hard. I know that with their guidance and expertise, I can achieve any level I aspire to; as long as I put in the work and cooperate with them.

Outside of wrestling, I have been able to make many new friends recently. I found new hobbies I like such as weightlifting and cooking which help me hold up healthy eating habits, and on top of that I am successful in my academics, maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout my Freshman year. I also enjoy helping others. I volunteer every Saturday at an organization called Family Respite Care of Nevada (RAVE). During my free time, I like to garden with my dad. We have a vegetable garden in our backyard. I also adore going to the beach with my friends.

Wrestling has become an integral part of my life, providing me with a purpose and passion, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to pursue this passion. I couldn’t imagine where I would be now without it. I hope to wrestle in college. Here is my current soft list; Iowa, King, North Central, Lock Haven and Colorado Mesa. I hope to also study Business Management.
