My name is Mason Worden, and I am currently in 7th grade. My wrestling journey started in 2018 with House of Centennial. I now wrestle under head coach Chase Pami at Goldrush Wrestling. When I was in Kindergarten, my parents asked me if I wanted to start wrestling just like my older brother and sister, and I said yes. The coaches I started with were Coach Jose, Tyson, RJ, Chris, Nate, Mike, and my Dad in the cafeteria at Centennial High School. My very first wrestling tournament was at Cimarron High School. My first couple of years of wrestling were spent learning and gaining experience from my coaches.

When I first started, my coaches showed me a move called the cradle, and it was hard to do at first. Down the line, I got very good at the cradle, and it became my favorite move. My 2019-2020 season was going well until March 2020, but my dad told me we wouldn’t be able to go to practice for a little bit, and after that, everything changed.

In the Spring of 2021, we practiced in one of my coach’s garages. It was nice to get back into wrestling, and it was fun being back. That’s when I was trying to develop using the cradle a lot, and the coaches said if I kept using that move in a match, other people would see that and might know how to defend it. In May of 2021, we decided to wrestle for Gold Rush Wrestling Academy. Coach Chase, Jake, and Max coached us at the time, and a little bit afterward came Coach Sorgani, Jose, Worden, AJ, Taylor, Rudy, Motes, Antonio, Gavin, and Nixon. Coach Sorgani started doing private practices with me and some of my teammates, which helped me a lot in matches. One thing that helped me a lot was having a good stance that helped me shoot more. The privates were fun because we got to learn a lot of new moves and tough situations to work through.

In the last couple of years, wrestling has allowed me to travel the country. The places that I have traveled to are Utah, California, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, Denver, Oklahoma, and Arizona. I am grateful for all of my coaches that have coached me over the years, thankful for the opportunities that have been provided for me, and grateful for my family and everybody who has been in my corner cheering me on.

Here are some of my accomplishments: 2025 Freak Show 1st place, 2025 Rocky Mountain Nationals 1st place, 2025 Western Regional Championships 3rd place, 2025 State champion, 2025 Claw U.S. Open 8th place, 2025 Rumble in Reno 2nd place, 2024 State Champ, 2024 Kids Nationals 8th place, 2023 State Triple Crown, 2x Kevin Randleman Champion.
