Kaidan Ybarra has been wrestling since the age of 5. Wrestling was his first sport. Kaidan was asked at the beginning of the season “why do you like wrestling?”, his response was “it’s me on that mat. I have my team that I practice with but when it’s competition time, it’s only me; I don’t have to rely on anyone else.” Kaidan currently wrestles for a small competitive club; the Fallon Outlaws. Joining this tight-knit group changed Kaidan’s perspective of wrestling for the better. Kaidan started with the group with some bad habits that the coaches had to iron out, and he did well that season. In his second season with the Outlaws Kaidan really started to shine. Other teams began recognizing him; even some teams from out of state. Kaidan was paired with some great kids on the team who really pushed his limits as a wrestler.

Some of Kaidan’s achievements for the past two years include: Nevada Triple Crown State Champion, S.A.W.A (California) Triple Crown, Rumble in Reno HWT 8u Champion, Rocky Mountain Nationals Champion for Folkstyle and Freestyle, SWA Triple Crown, Third place at the Reno Worlds.

All the hard work Kaidan has put in during the last couple of years paid off when he was recruited to join Team Speed (a dual team from California) as their Heavyweight at the Supreme Gladiator Tournament in Las Vegas.

Not only is Kaidan known for his achievements on the mat, he is also recognized for his elite sportsmanship and compassion. He shares his knowledge with his peers and enjoys cheering them on. Kaidan has stated, “I love all the awards and medals, but I love it more when people talk to me about my sportsmanship”.

Kaidan’s accomplishments won’t end anytime soon. This ambitious 8 year old’s dream is to wrestle for Cael Sanderson at Penn State. But until that time comes, Kaidan is excited to continue wrestling for the amazing coaches of the Fallon Outlaws: Evan Brandt, Wade Workman, Rudy Maynez and Brett Workman, as they will continue to help him achieve his goals. Along with the continued support from his family, Mark (Father), Kim (Mom), Michael (Step Father), brothers (Patrick, Lucas, Holden) and Stephanie (Aunt), Kaidan will continue to be the amazing kid he is on and off the mat.
