Josiah Maestas began wrestling in 2014. Josiah was 7-years old when he first stepped on the wrestling mat. Josiah was a very quiet and shy kid that struggled with communicating with others, but through the sport of wrestling Josiah was able to break out of his shell and was no longer that shy little kid on or off the mat. Josiah fell in love with the sport and continued to grow getting better each year.

Josiah has wrestled with 3 teams throughout his Youth. He started at Henderson Wrestling Club under Coach Medina. He then moved on to Monster Wrestling Academy and wrestled under the coaching of Kevin Randleman, Scott Kimball and his dad Jose Maestas. Then he finally moved on to Slam WC under the coaching styles of Coach Rios.

Josiah was a Multi-Youth City Champion Placer in all 3 styles–Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco. Josiah was also a Multi-Youth State placer in all 3 styles including a Youth State Champion in Freestyle and Greco. Josiah has finally moved up to High school, but unfortunately we all suffered due to the nation-wide pandemic that shut down our schools and most of our tournaments.

Josiah missed out on competing his Freshman year, but that didn’t stop him. Josiah was able to find RMN tournaments that were being held in less restrictive states, and so he traveled to compete. Josiah just recently took First Place at Rocky Mountain Nationals in Folkstyle and Freestyle, and he also just placed First at the Supreme Summer Nationals. Josiah has now entered into the 10th grade and is looking forward to competing in his first High School season
