Huntley Keller began wrestling at the age of five with Nevada Elite. He started the Fall of 2019; stopping due to the pandemic in 2020. He returned to the wrestling mat two years later in the Fall of 2021. His first few matches were quite difficult due to his large stature. Kids his age did not want to wrestle him as he stood nearly six inches taller. Conversely, he was matched with pre-teens much older and experienced.

As the season progressed, he found confidence as his skill set grew and began working harder at practice. He took 1st in the 7u SWA Regionals in 2022 and then placed 2nd at State. He placed 2nd in 7u at the Reno Rumble in 2022. In October of 2022, Huntley had his first notable National appearance winning the Outstanding 8u Wrestler in the Cosmic Clash in Roseville, pinning his way through the Finals. Later that year, he received 2nd place for Regionals, State and later Reno Rumble 9u. He attended Freakshow in Las Vegas in October 2023, although lost early in the competition, but again he pinned his way back to win True Second. Most recently, he competed up an age bracket in Cosmic Clash in Fresno, winning 1st and for the Second Time Outstanding 10u Wrestler, again pinning all three opponents in the first period.

At Nevada Elite, Head Coach Sully, Coach Mumm, Coach Gonzalez and Coach Eric are phenomenal coaches who have worked hard to bring out the very best in Huntley. Coach Sully has an unmatched ability, with his booming voice and warm heart, to motivate and simultaneously encourage his team. Nevada Elite is known for some of the most talented wrestlers in the area; they are also some of the best teammates. Huntley enjoys his evening practices with so many friends on the mat, and he has found some of his closest friends due to this amazing sport.

Huntley comes from a line of local wrestlers. His grandfather wrestled for Wooster. His dad, Aaron, was a two-time Nevada State Champion wrestler who is now listed in the Fernley High School Hall of Fame. Huntley has a huge family, lots of aunties/uncles/cousins beyond his grandparents and parents, who ALL unceasingly support him. Not to mention his brother, Barrett (Bear) who supports him in all of his sports, including an unauthorized wrestling match or two.

Huntley also participates in the Muckdogs Baseball club with Bret Pagni. He has an amazing team of friends and loves baseball. His coaches Logan and Hawk continue to encourage sportsmanship and athleticism as he learns baseball. He was asked to participate in the Northwest Reno American Little League 10u All-Star team (as an 9yo) this spring. He is a Straight A student at Rollan Melton and loves his teacher Ms. Longoni. He recently received the Principal’s Award for Kindness. Huntley enjoys ALL sports and anything outside. He skis, anytime he has a spare winter weekend day. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and off-roading. He plays basketball and football for fun. He enjoys boogie boarding, swimming, biking and kayaking at the beach. In the summer, at any local lake, Huntley is often found alone on his kayak dropping a line in the water.

As a family, we often tease, calling Huntley “The Mayor” or “Class President’. He is unabashedly friendly. Full of charisma, he frequently coordinates a game of tag with members of multiple other teams at any given athletic event. He is uniquely inclusive and kind. With these exceptional features along with his work-ethic and athleticism, Huntley will be successful in whatever he endeavors.
