Hello, my name is Hunter Moore. Life in Salem, VA, at Roanoke College has been a whirlwind of growth, both on the mat and in the classroom. I’m deep into Health & Exercise Science, and I’ve maintained a 3.7 GPA, something I’m incredibly proud of.

My freshman year was a strong start. Wrestling at 165 lbs, I ended the season with a 21-11 record. I took home 3rd at the Cougar Classic and 2nd at the Crytzer Memorial. The Citrus Invitational in Florida was a tough one, but I still managed a 6th place finish. Beyond the individual successes, it was incredible to be part of the team that became the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champions for 2023-2024.

Off the mat, I was honored with the Kip Nininger Scholarship, joined the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and received both the Letterman Award and the Academic Excellence Award. The Strength, Conditioning and Nutrition Award was a nod to the work I put in behind the scenes. That summer, I spent my time in Las Vegas at the Aniciete Training Center, helping with camps, coaching, and handling administrative tasks, and even volunteered as a wrestling coach at Boulder City High School—my Alma Mater.

My sophomore year brought new challenges and a move up in weight, competing at both 184 lbs and 197 lbs. I finished with a 30-13 record. I placed 5th at the Cougar Classic, 4th at the Ober Invitational, and 2nd at the Crytzer Memorial. It was fantastic to be part of the ALL ODAC Team and see our team clinch the Conference Championship again. I also placed 5th at the NCAA D3 Region 4 Championship held at Averett University at the beginning of March, and I made the NCAA ALL Regional Team.

Academically, I continued my involvement with the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and was named an NWCA Scholar All American. I earned another Letterman Award and Academic Excellence Award, along with the “Big Win Award” and, to my surprise and honor, the Most Valuable Wrestler Award. More recently, I was named to the CSC All District Academic Men’s Team, which recognizes performance both in competition and in the classroom. This summer, I’m gaining valuable experience with an internship at Champion Physical Therapy in Boulder City, NV.
