My name is Hailey Worden, and I started wrestling in 2019 with House of Centennial. When I was in third grade my dad asked me if I wanted to got to the “Wrestle Like A Girl” camp, in Utah, with my sister Madison. I ended up going and was able to meet Helen Maroulis and Jacarra Winchester. When I got home I was excited to start going to wrestling practices. I practiced in the cafeteria at Centennial with my younger brother Mason and my dad, and with Coach Tyson, Coach Jose, Coach Chris, Coach RJ and Coach Mike. I wrestled there until March of 2020 before everything changed.

In the spring of 2021, I started getting back into wrestling in Coach Chris’s garage. In May of 2021 was when we made the decision to wrestle for Gold Rush Wrestling Academy. Coach Chase, Coach Jake and Coach Max coached us and a little bit afterwards came Coach Sorgani. He started doing private practices with me and a few other of my teammates. These opportunities really benefited me and helped improve my skills as a wrestler. They helped me become mentally tougher how to become a good teammate.

Over the summer coach Chase Pami brought in Peyton Prussin and Tehani Soares, and they ran some practices with us. When they came in Tehani taught us a slide by. They ran girls practices, and it was fun to learn from them. In September 2022 Goldrush started their girls program with practices twice a week– there were no more than ten girls there. Since then, the girls program has grown, and now we have practices three times a week with nearly twenty girls at each practice.

At home, I enjoy making desserts and spending time with my family. When my cousins spend the night we love to make forts and watch movies together. I also play the Violin in school. When I bring my violin home I play songs for my family that I have learned in class. In school, my favorite subject is Science because doing the cool experiments is really fun. Wrestling has taught me lessons such as how to push through obstacles, and it helps me outside of wrestling.

One of my goals for the rest of this year is to place in the top three in Tulsa. For next year my goals are to get all A’s in school, and to place top three in 14u at Women’s National’s. My goals for High School are to be a 4x State Champ, to place at Fargo, and my last goal is to make a World Team for either 15u or 17u.
