When I was helping various wrestling teams and clubs, Bubby would always want to come with me, especially to the former Monkey Gym where he never participated in any practices, but he spent over 2 hours a day running through the place. I was helping several HS programs and Bubby’s grandmother took him to what was to be a smokers. He wrestled 1 match at 5 and 1 at 6. So when he decided to join Liberty Youth Wrestling Team he was not allowed to wrestle beginners as per SNWA. So basically, Bubby spent the next two years getting beat up religiously every Saturday.

When Liberty disbanded their program due to coaches’ work schedules, Bubby joined Slam Youth. He was in the fourth grade and continued his wrestling under Coach Richard Rios, who did a great job with Bubby. With Nevada wrestling put in hiatus due to Covid restrictions shutting nearly all clubs down, Bubby moved to the Legends of Gold camps in Las Vegas under Coach Bill Sullivan and also in Beresford, South Dakota under renowned Coach Terry Pack.

Recently Bubby has wrestled out of State like all the other Nevada wrestlers. Bubby has wrestled multi-brackets at major tournaments the last year and a half, actually wrestling over 180 matches. He has traveled with LOG to Denver for the Cosmic Clash where he garnered a 1st Place Finish, and just a couple weeks ago to South Carolina for the Grapplers Fall Classic, where he took 2nd in both Folkstyle and Freestyle. During this time while training with Coach Pack and his staff, Bubby has seen firsthand what “elite” wrestlers in America do to prepare for their next challenges.

Bubby is currently 12-years old wrestling 82 lbs. He attends Slam Academy for 7th grade where he looks forward to wrestling for Coaches Zach Hocker and Jake Rollans when he is in High School. Bubby lives with his grandparents, along with two sisters and his brother, all who are also currently attending Slam Academy. Bubby’s hobbies at the moment are, eating everything insight and hiding the wrappers around the house, terrorizing his two younger siblings and dangerously raising his grandfather’s blood pressure.
