Hi, my name is Emma Albanese, a freshman at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska. It has been five years since my last update. I am 20 years old and have been wrestling for 11 years. I recently won my first college national championship title, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

During my freshman year of college, I was ranked #1 in the nation right after my first tournament of the season and maintained that ranking the entire year. I have been nationally ranked in high school since the 8th grade, and I am proud to have continued with a strong ranking in college.

Since my last update, I became a four-time state champion, won the National High School Recruiting Showcase, earned several more All-American awards at Fargo and World Team Trials, and had two undefeated seasons in high school.

My wrestling journey has brought so many amazing opportunities and blessings. However, at the start of my junior high school season, I had a major setback. Right after the first tournament, I dislocated and tore my elbow during practice. This injury prevented me from wrestling for most of the season. Still, I was determined to do everything possible to compete at regionals and state to try and win another state title, and I achieved just that!.

It was extremely difficult watching everyone else wrestle, but I was able to help my teammates at practices and support them at tournaments. This experience really helped me grow as both a wrestler and a teammate.

I have continued to practice and compete, but it has not been easy because my elbow still has issues. After two years of putting off surgery so I could continue competing in the sport I love, I am finally scheduled for surgery this summer! I am eager to finally be back to 100%, and I know that God has a perfect plan for me and will be with me through this recovery process.

I am extremely grateful for my family, teammates, coaches, and my club team, Anicete Training Club. They took me in when I was struggling and treated me with so much love and respect. Without their love and support, I would not be where I am today.

I want to give a special thank you to my college coaches, Coach Jake Hamilton and Coach Trevor Reinke, for being patient with my injury and always prioritizing what they feel is best to help me grow as an athlete and a person. I would also like to thank Coach Pack, who has been there since I was new to wrestling and has continued to support me throughout my college journey.

Finally, I give all my thanks to God. He has carried me through my toughest and best times, and without Him, nothing is possible.
