My name is Edward Sorgani. Son of Ed Sorgani and Dania Reid. My siblings are Noah Meggison, Joey Sorgani, and Cassie Sorgani. I grew up in the Village of Carleton, Michigan. I started wrestling at five years old. I spent 13 years there, and then moved to Glendale Arizona. I spent my eighth grade and ninth grade year there. I made varsity not only in Wrestling, but also in baseball and football. We then moved to Reno, Nevada my 10th grade year. This is where I would meet, not only my wrestling coach, but my mentor–Coach Mumm. I attended McQueen High School 2005 to 2008. I wrestled for multiple Assistant Coaches under Coach Mumm. My favorites being Joe Imeli, Brian Balvanz, and Adam Hutchinson

I chose to only wrestle because Coach Mumm gave me the opportunity to wrestle year-round. In the three years I wrestled there I had a combined record of 75 wins and 25 losses with 54 pins. My high school career was cut short due to an injury I suffered when I was in 10th grade. Instead of properly rehabbing my injury, I was foolish and wrestled my junior year going 33-7. However, I did not end up finishing my Senior year. I was slammed on my neck and pinched some nerves on the same side as my previous injury. This is the moment that I knew I wouldn’t wrestle in college but instead, I would begin my career as a coach. Coach Mumm brought me on staff when I was 18, as the “stat boy”. I wasn’t old enough to be an actual coach.

That didn’t stop me from traveling with the team, keeping stats mat side, while voicing my opinions to the wrestlers. The next year, Mumm had lost two Assistant Coaches and asked me to become his Head Assistant Coach. I got cleared through the district, and my Coaching career officially began. That same year, Coach Mumm got me the Head coaching spot at Clayton Middle School. I spent the next 9 years coaching at McQueen and Clayton middle school, while also assisting the Northwest Knights Youth Club. In 2016, I joined Hard Work Wrestling Academy. Coach Mumm was also responsible for getting me on board there as well. What a guy!

This is also the same year I met my Beautiful wife Esperanza and my son Jayden. In 2017 we merged together the Northwest Knights and Hard Work Academy to form Nevada Elite. I became the Head Coach. Esperanza had my second son Levi in 2018. I got married to Esperanza in 2019. Our third son Cruz was born that December. It wouldn’t be until 2021 when I got an unexpected job offer to move to Las Vegas, NV to help coach at Gold Rush Wrestling Academy with Chase Pami. The fact that someone at his level recognized, with the help from Tony Saldate and others, that I would be someone to contribute to his club was a blessing, and a honor. I knew I had to jump on that opportunity.

Being able to have high level people around like Pami, as well as Max Rosphkof, is amazing. Plus, I now got to coach with Jake Rollans, who I believe to be second to none as a coach in this state, and country! I am very blessed to be going into my 15th year of coaching. I would like to say I love you to my mother. I would like to thank my father for telling me to make sure I do what I love every day. Thank you to all the coaches I’ve coached with for helping me grow. Thank you to my beautiful wife and my kids for letting me live out my passion. And, a special thank you to Coach Mumm, who has not only been a great mentor/coach but also a great friend. I love all of you.

My coaching philosophy is simple. I like to teach kids how to develop a great work ethic no matter if they like what they are doing, or they have to do it. The mentality part that comes with having a great work ethic, is something I thrive on. My main goal as a coach, is to have an impact on anybody and everyone who comes across my path. Whether that is on the mat or off the mat.
