My name is Antonio Saldate. It is an honor to be named Athlete of the Month for a second time. Since I was last honored a lot of things have changed for me. I graduated from CBU (Cal Baptist University) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and was also awarded Big 12 Academic 2nd Team. Additionally, I made the big decision to wrestle one more year and transfer schools. I am now at Life University in Marietta, Georgia getting a Master’s in Positive Psychology. I am teammates with some Nevada natives–Greg Ewert and Jacob Ruiz!

Over here at Life University I keep the same goal to be the best wrestler I can be. As it will be my first year in NAIA, I am looking to do some damage and start off my season with a bang. My first competition is going to be at the Southeast Open. There will be some high level competition there, and I cannot wait to compete. I have been training very hard and am hoping to get Nevada another NAIA Champion.

One of my main focuses this year is my mindset training. Not just training my body physically in wrestling, but mentally too. The mental side of wrestling is what separates the athletes. This is something I have learned through coaching. Coaching at Chase Pami’s Gold Rush Wrestling has given me another perspective on the sport. I have learned a lot from the coaches and athletes there. I want to help show my athletes how to compete at the best of their ability.

Focusing on how I train my mind and body, what I eat, and what I am doing when I am not training. Again I am super excited for the season and cannot wait to bring the show. Thank you to everyone that supports me! See you at the top.
