Hi, my name is Angelina Doral. I am currently a Senior in North Las Vegas, NV. I was introduced to the sport of wrestling because my two older brothers wrestled. I was always at the practices and tournaments just hanging out, so my dad figured since I was already there, why not throw me on the mat too?

I started practicing with the team in 4th grade and started competing in local youth tournaments with boys in 5th grade. After the 5th grade I decided to take a break from wrestling and try other sports again. Before wrestling I did boxing and gymnastics; after I took a break in the 5th grade I did basketball and volleyball. During my 7th grade year I went to my older brother’s high school Regionals Wrestling Tournament and the atmosphere was so nostalgic, I had to give it a try again. I started competing again locally my 8th grade year. Then, started taking it more serious my Freshman year, until I injured my shoulder during season while wrestling a boy. I was out for most of my Freshman year, and my first tournament back from injury was State.

At State, I ended up taking 3rd my Freshman year. There was no season due to Covid my Sophomore year. I took 3rd my Junior year, and I took 2nd my Senior Year. Additionally, Junior year I All-American’d at the U20 World Team Trials, and I took 1st at Regionals my Senior year. I’ve also been presented a High School Scholar All-American Award closing my Senior year off, and I am currently committed to the University of Providence for women’s wrestling where I will be majoring in Biology this come fall.

I’m grateful for the sport of wrestling because of the discipline it has taught me mentally and physically. Moreover, these lessons I’ve learned from wrestling are incorporated into my everyday life.

Shoutout to coaches Brian Weber, Brandon Hargrove, Bob Gallardo, and Matt Lebaron from North Las Vegas Wrestling Team. Another shoutout to coaches Sean McNulty, Kevin McNulty, and Jeremy Slaughter from Uprising Wrestling Team. And Another to to Coach AD, Coach Tony, Coach Tony Jr, and Coach Thompson from Legacy High School. Lastly, one to Bill Sullivan, David Mackey, Zachary Hocker, and Joe Cannon from LOGLV. Special thanks to my mom, dad, and three older brothers for mentoring me leading up to this point.

This sport has brought me to my highest of highs and lowest of lows, unforgettable memories from wrestling trips, and lastly–certain teammates and friends who’ve turned into family.
