My name is Amber Perkins; I am a daughter, sibling, teammate, and for the sake of this honor–most importantly an athlete. I have had an ongoing adventure with wrestling for 9 years now. I was first introduced to Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 8 as a way to avoid being so passive, as well as being able to protect myself.

After countless months of being uninterested in the sport, and being forced to be there, I finally caught an interest and started competing, thanks to the support of my brother who was with me at every practice. A short year later, I encountered wrestling and since then I have stuck with it.

Wrestling has given me the opportunity to meet many amazing people who have helped push and shape me into the person I am today. This sport has sent me to several new states that I could never have imagined visiting, as well as on teams and to tournaments that were once just a dream.

On my down time I’ve taken up several other sports like volleyball, tennis, and boxing, and although they can be entertaining, my main focus has stayed with wrestling. I’m thankful for my coaches and teammates for helping me through this journey, but most importantly my parents for believing I could do anything I set my mind to.

I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish in my future at the next level.
