Hi my name is Abraham Coronado and I am a wrestler. This is my fourth season with Nevada Elite Wrestling. I began wrestling as an eight-year old in the fourth grade, and I am currently in seventh grade and 12 years old. I am the third youngest out of ten siblings in a blended family. My mother Shohanna Coronado met my dad Andrew Sullivan shortly after we relocated to Reno from Salinas California, my birth place.

Wrestling to me means a drive to try to achieve something that requires the highest level of conditioning and mental toughness. It is something that you can shed blood, sweat and tears with some of your closest friends, and some adversaries as well. Once you finally achieve some of your goals, it is one of the most rewarding feelings I have ever felt in my life. Wrestling can sometimes be the worst part of my day, and sometimes it’s the best.

I have learned so many things from my coaches–Coach Sorgani, Coach Mumm, and my oldest brother and coach–Edward (Coach Sully) Sullivan! All of my coaches have taught me how to win and lose with grace, but the thing I have taken from their lessons the most is to never give up. Although my first few seasons of wrestling were challenging, I have recently found success at State and Nationally recognized tournaments. Some of my most recent are the following: Western States–Second in Folkstyle and Freestyle, and Third in Greco at Supreme Gladiator. The most recent was Rocky Mountain Nationals in which I brought home a Champion Belt with a First Place Finish. Currently I’m training for Freak Show–another Rocky Mountain Nationals event, and I took First at Supreme Summer Nationals and my team also Won!

In the future some of my long term goals include becoming a Fargo Champ, and also being an NIAA Nevada State High School Champion. I am excited and proud of where wrestling has taken me, and I hope it will continue to bless me and open up doors for higher education. While wrestling is a huge part of my life, I am also a regular 12-year old. Some of the things I enjoy outside of wrestling include hanging out with some of my friends that I have met through wrestling, and I also enjoy playing video games and other sports such as baseball and football.
