My name is Nevaeh Aniciete, and I am 8 years old from Las Vegas, Nevada. I am honored to be selected as Nevada Youth Athlete of the Month!

Wrestling is a huge part of my life and my family’s life. My dad Alex, and my Uncle Napoleon run the Aniciete Training Club, and they are my biggest motivation. My mom, Michelle, and my little brother, Joey, are always supporting me every step of the way. Wrestling runs in our blood—my uncles and cousins all wrestle, which makes competing even more fun.

This is my first year wrestling, and this season has been amazing. Although I did not place in my very first tournament, I worked my way up to the national finals at Reno Worlds, one of the toughest tournaments in the country. I finished as a true second-place All-American, and that experience has motivated me even more to continually improve

I train hard every day, taking private lessons with my dad, participating in group practices with Coach Eddy Gifford, and working in both the Gold (advanced) and Silver (fundamentals) classes.

Thank you to all my coaches—Coach Uncle Nap, Coach Uncle Val, Coach Eddy, Coach Noah, and Coach Alex (my dad)—for believing in me and helping me grow.

Thank you for selecting me as Athlete of the Month. I am proud to represent Nevada and will keep working hard to make my family, my team, and my state proud.
