My name is Jhett Harber and I’m currently a senior at Albert M. Lowry High School in Winnemucca, Nevada. My life has been a continual journey of wrestling. My first steps were taken on a wrestling mat. My first match was two weeks before my third birthday, in my tiny singlet my grandmother had given to me, and the crocheted shoes my mom made for me. I have Two State Championships under my belt and am preparing to defend my Third Title. I also earned an All American Honor at Reno Worlds last year. I know how much dedication wrestling takes and I strive to continually work hard and perform the best that I can.

My freshman year of high school I trained hard and was a part of the Varsity Team. My record for the 2021-2022 season was 30 wins and 15 losses. I qualified for State but did not place that year. On the way home I told my dad, “I am going to be a Three Time State Champ.” That was and is Still my goal. My dad was the Head Coach at the high school in Salmon, Idaho where I was born. He always took me to practices and taught me how to be the wrestler I am today. He has continually been my role model for work ethic. My sophomore year of high school I trained even harder, attending wrestling and skills camps. I went to some tough tournaments that season. I placed Seventh at the Sierra Nevada Classic. My record for the 2022-2023 season was 44 wins and 10 losses. I earned my First State Championship at 157 pounds and was proud of working my way through some really tough challenges.

My junior year of high school, still holding my position on Varsity, I became a Team Captain, helping my teammates and being a role model for my little brother. My record for the 2023-2024 season was 47 wins and 5 losses. I defended my State Championship winning my Second Title but this time at 175 pounds. After I received my All American Honor I started to receive letters and offers for colleges and academies. I have always wanted to wrestle in college so as this current season has progressed, I have been training harder and preparing myself for what’s to come next. I wrestled at the Tournament of Champions which was quite the challenge. I had some great competition.

The following week I attended the Sierra Nevada Classic and placed fifth at 175 pounds. The beginning of the new year my team and I traveled to Idaho for the 25th Rollie Lane Invitational. Amongst strong competition and with a great amount of support from my team, my coaches, and my family, I achieved First Place at 175 pounds. Another goal of mine was met there when I reached 150 High School Varsity Career Wins. My current record for this season is 36 wins and 4 losses. I am getting pumped for State coming up in a couple of weeks. I hope for the best for my team and myself in these upcoming tournaments. |

After high school I plan on attending and wrestling for The United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. My parents and I were fortunate to take a trip there this past August. I was able to meet the coach and my teammates as well as explore the campus, attending classes with a host and joining in a wrestling practice as well. I am extremely grateful for the support and guidance of my parents. Along with my older sister and my younger brother, they have always been my biggest fans.
