| Hello, my name is Caleb Rojas. I am a Student-Athlete at Vermont State University at Castleton. I am currently in my 4th year as an Exercise Science major. I started my wrestling career at Basic High School in Henderson, Nevada, my freshman year (2017). Originally, I became an athlete by joining the football team at basic and was very committed to continuing my career there. I played center and defensive end, even though I was never the biggest lineman, I always worked hard and played aggressive which got me the starting spot on both sides of the ball up until I graduated. |

| The lineman coaches were encouraging us all to join wrestling as it would make us better football players. At first, I would just kind of laugh it off and had no interest in it. A few days went by and somehow, I got convinced by my teammates to try it out. It was the best decision of my life. It took me a while to catch on but by my junior year I made the Regional Team. I became a Regional Champion, and then proceeded to take 4th at States and ending the season 40-9. Up until this point I was still committed to football and was only looking at colleges for football, but these results gave me high hopes going into my senior year, and that’s when Covid hit. I decided to fully commit to wrestling but had very little film to go off of, and everything was shut down, but my coach Zach Brewer and I tried to go to as many competitions as we could out of state. |

These extra matches got me in touch with some coaches, and I ended up at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, for my first year of college. After completing my first season as a college student, I realized it just wasn’t the right fit for me. I wasn’t doing very good physically, mentally, or academically. I thought I lost my love for the sport of wrestling; I was just going to quit, go back home and give up on wrestling. I knew that’s not what I wanted though, so after a few months of thought, I decided to give it another chance and that led me to Castleton. |

| Since I’ve been here, I have become an Academic All-American, maintained above a 3.5 every semester, found a new and improved love for the sport and overall became a great wrestler under the leadership of our Head Coach Scott Legacy, and the rest of the coaching staff. As I go into my final year at Castleton, I look forward to the pain; I look forward to the struggle; I look forward to doing things that no one else wants to do, and I look forward to accomplishing my goals on and off the mat. I will be an All-American. I am thankful for the opportunity to wrestle, and the opportunities it has given me/will give me in the future. I am thankful for the support of my family, friends, and coaches because none of this would have been possible without them. #GETGET |
