| Hello my name is Gabe Ojeda, and I am currently a wrestler for UNLV (University of Nevada Las Vegas). In High School I was a Nevada State Champion for Slam Academy NV. That was in 2020. My major at UNLV is in Film and Dance. I also work as a lifeguard for my local community. |

| Before coming to UNLV I used to wrestle D2 for Minot State University in North Dakota; that was during the pandemic, and when everyone was forced to quarantine, but our practices continued. I practiced with the same partner for three months early in the morning. I adapted to college level wrestling because of my partner’s unusual style. |

| When my skills finally advanced I started wrestling the Assistant Coach, Frank, who helped me develop more of my skills. When my second year of college started I ended up dropping out and moved back to Vegas. One year later, Coach James Downing from UNLV called me, and so I came back to the mats. During my first year wrestling at UNLV I took 3rd in Conference, but then I got disqualified at Nationals. I didn’t let it discourage me, but I learned from my mistakes and continued on my progression. In my second year I ended up taking First Place at West Coast Conference. |

| Nationals was a great experience in Louisiana. As soon as I arrived at the arena I was “locked in.” For this Nationals Tournament I was focused on winning, and I knew I would have to be on point. I made it to the the Quarter Finals and then got sent to the back side of the bracket. But, I let my last match fuel my fire in the Blood Rounds and came out on top. During the three days of wrestling I sacrificed so much energy that by the end I was so exhausted. It really took a lot of dedication to achieve All-American Status, but I did it. I look forward to what I can achieve in the future
