My name is Frankie Carrasco. I was born in Long Beach California in 2009. I come from a Christian family. My dad’s name is Frank, and my mom’s name is Vanessa. My sister’s name is Nicole. I started playing sports at the age of three on my sister’s T-Ball Team. I played T-Ball and Baseball for a year, and then I moved to Flag Football for a season. At the age of five my dad put me into MMA and that is when I was introduced to wrestling.

When I turned six, my dad put me into my first wrestling club team–The Warriors, in Lakewood California at Mayfair High School with Coach Ibee. I wrestled for the Warriors for two years. My mom and dad decided that it was time for a change, so we moved to Henderson, NV. We found Henderson Wrestling, and I wrestled there for one season with Coach Anthony and Coach Jose. Coach Ibee from California recommended we go to Coach Rios at Slam Wrestling which is now Pride Wrestling. I was eight years old when I started with Coach Rios and now I’m fourteen.

Last year, I really started focusing on my wrestling goals, and I won the Championship at Nevada’s State Youth Wrestling Tournament and became Nevada’s Youth State Champion in all three styles; Folk, Freestyle, and Greco. I also won Rocky Mountain Nationals in two different weight classes while having a broken finger, and I got the Outstanding Wrestler Award as well. This year, I am going to continue working on my goals and pushing forward to become a better wrestler. I recently won the New Mexico National Showdown. I took first place and won my Second Outstanding Wrestler Award

It has been six years wrestling for Coach Rios. In that time he has taught me a lot about this sport; the physicality, the discipline, and the mental toughness that is required to be successful in this sport. He has also helped me to understand that I am able to get a wrestling scholarship, if I continue to work hard on the mat and in the classroom, and continue my wrestling journey at the college level and that is one of my main goals.
