What Wrestling has done for my Life:
I first started wrestling at the age of 11. I grew up in South Lake Tahoe where wrestling wasn’t very popular. Wrestling is like a second home to me. When I started wrestling, I was in sixth grade at South Lake Tahoe middle school and my wrestling coach was Ryan Wallace. My sixth-grade year was cut down because we got a lot of snow that year. So, at the beginning of my seventh-grade year I started driving down to Reno everyday, which was about 2 1/2 hours there and back. This is when I started wrestling year-round and committing to the sport. After practice I would still have to get my schoolwork done in order to keep up in school. |

At the end of my eighth-grade year I moved down to Reno to fully commit to my club, Nevada Elite, that I am still with, and my new school which is Robert McQueen High school. At the beginning of my Freshman year I fractured my knee. It was a rough way to start my high school wrestling career. I was out for about a month and a half. When I finally started to wrestle again I was both winning and losing matches, but had amazing help from my coaches–Coach Mumm and Coach Armstrong. After my high school season, I wrestled about 3-4 hours a day six days a week and was lifting an hour a day. This went on until my Sophomore year of high school started

At the beginning of my Sophomore year, I was winning all my matches, and I was medaling at tournaments like the Reno TOC, the SNC (Sierra Nevada Classic), California Mid-Cals, and the Rumble in Reno, etc. My record for my Sophomore year of high school was 53 wins and 9 losses. This was a big improvement for me because it showed me that I could wrestle with anyone, if I believed it hard enough. When Regionals came around, I was wrestling tough, and I ended up winning my Finals match. After Regionals we had a week of practice before we had to leave for State. When State rolled around, I won my first match 17-0, and when my second match rolled around I ended up winning it 8-3, and this put me in the Finals at the 2020 Nevada State Championships for 4A. I won the Finals 8-6 which gave me a State Title under my belt, with the help of my club coaches–Coach Soragani, and my high school coaches–Coach Jeromy Mumm and Coach Karrington Armstrong.

For about the next year Covid-19 hit and really everything shut down, and the high school team wanted to be able to wrestle their high school season but all the clubs shut down, so I had to travel around the nation to get the mat time I needed. Because of fracturing my knee my Freshman year, I ended up getting knee surgery for a torn meniscus and strained MCL. During this time, I took the opportunity to think about what I need to do after my recuperation to get back up to the level of my opponents. After my knee surgery I started wrestling again in July, and I got back and even surpassed the level that my opponents were at. In October of 2021 I wrestled at Super 32 which is one of the biggest wrestling tournaments in the country. At super 32 I believe I did well. I went 3 and 2.

Overall, I am thankful for everyone that has helped me throughout the years. I want to thank my Dad, Kevin Miller, for always being there for me and pushing me to be better. I want to thank Coach Mumm, Coach Soragani and Coach Armstrong for helping me to become the wrestler that I am today. Most of all I want to give all Glory to God because he is my Savior, and he was the one that blessed me with these talents. After High school I want to go to college for wrestling.
